Jacuzzi Renovation Project: What is Jacuzzi?

Having a Jacuzzi may not be considered as common thing as having swimming pool. However, for some people in a certain fabric of society, Jacuzzi has been considered as the big part of their nowadays lifestyle. Just like a swimming pool, Jacuzzi takes a big role to support their daily basis such as gathering with friends or throwing a party around. More than that, many architects and exterior/interior designers also consider this very specific kind of pool as one aspect that could significantly increase the aesthetical aspect of the building. So, no wonder if recently building a Jacuzzi turns to become a trend.

However, as the term Jacuzzi is being so much popular these days, there are still many people are not familiar with it. So, what Jacuzzi actually is? And what makes it different from the conventional swimming pool? To answer these questions, firstly we need to know the basic usage of the Jacuzzi itself. Unlike conventional swimming pool, the term Jacuzzi strongly refers to hot tub. In modern day, many hot tubs are using electricity to heat the water. But, in some areas there are Jacuzzis that use natural gas as the main heating resource.

For the size, it could be built in a small or large size. And it’s mainly used for relaxation purposes, hydrotherapy, or just for pleasure. To support this functionality, Jacuzzi is equipped with powerful water jet system to create massage sensation. While for the placement, it could be placed indoor or outdoor and designed to be able to load more than 1 person at a time. With all these functionalities, no wonder if there are many luxurious property developers such as hotel, apartment, condo, etc. start to build Jacuzzi to increase the value of their buildings. And this approach is also applied by The Residences at Dharmawangsa II, where they have several Jacuzzi facilities inside of their buildings.

The water from Jacuzzi soaked in into the pool floor and wetting the roof of the underneath floor. So, this renovation process was mainly focusing on the renovating the pool surface, fixing the plumbing system, and doing waterproofing action to prevent water to soak in. To get to know about this process step by step, here we present our Jacuzzi renovation project in brief. Before that, below are the photos of pool condition before its getting renovated.

In the first week of starting this Jacuzzi Renovation project, we’re doing preparation by covering the surrounding with plywood and plastic. This way is aimed to protect the surroundings from debris that could break or contaminate it. Besides, covering surrounding is also aimed to minimize the noise to get out through the wall so it won’t be too disturbing for other residents. After everything’s perfectly covered, then we started to break the pool wall and floor. Breaking the pool wall was aimed to fix the old plumbing and reinstall new one, and to apply new waterproofing.

After the bekisting was done, then the casting process was ready to apply. While doing casting, we also prepared to make pool steps. And because this is a Jacuzzi and not a conventional swimming pool, so we also prepared the sitting area as well. Afterward, we made vaijet plumbing and doing plumbing reparation on the roof or underneath floor.

After the casting was dried, we applied the second waterproofing. Both casting and waterproofing were fully dried in the 8th week. And, we continued to install varijet pipe for Jacuzzi. The varijet itself is used to create massage sensation by pumping out high pressured water. After the varijet pipe installation was done, the next step of this Jacuzzi Renovation was filling up the pool with water to check whether the water still soaks in or not and whether the waterproofing is working or not. We let the pool filled by water for about 3 days. After 3 days, we found out that the water was not soaking in into the pool floor, and there is no water mark on the underneath floor roof. So, we conclude that the Jacuzzi okay now.
